This owl was banded at Westchester Community College, outfitted with a radio transmitter, and released on campus on Nov 12th at 12:30 am.  The video shows the sequence of movements of this hatching year female, first moving to the edge of campus, and then to a residential area just west of campus.  For about two weeks, she roosted in the residential area during the day, in a tall white pine tree at the top of a hill, and hunted during the night, in a wooded area with a small stream, across the Sprain Parkway.  During the third week, she moved a little west to hunt in a wooded section near an industrial park along the Saw Mill River Parkway.

The labels in the video represent the day number, with Day 1 the day of release.  The letter, D or N or E, following the day number, represents Day or Night or Early morning (while still dark).   If you pause the video at a legend, you will find additional information about the observation:  date, time, description of location, and observation #.  The icons on the right side of the control bar are for a Table of Contents, Full Screen, and Information.
